Develop policy guidance and oversee the implementation of all Department of War (DOW) policies, strategies, and plans related to Operations in the Information Environment (OIE), including Military Information Support Operations (MISO), and coordinate with other offices in the Office of the Secretary of War for oversight of other information forces and activities. These responsibilities include:
- Coordinate on behalf of the Under Secretary of War for Policy (USW(P) all plans, programs, actions, and requirements related to Operations in the Information Environment, consistent with national strategies and DOW policy and objectives;
- Provide oversight on behalf of USW(P) of Military Information Support Operations (MISO), for both conventional and special operations forces, and other information forces as specified by the Secretary of War;
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of strategies, policies, and plans related to Operations in the Information Environment.
- Support oversight and review DOW deception activities for consistency with DOW and U.S. government policy;
- Advocate for and support DOW leadership with and during congressional engagements on OIE, Information Advantage, and Information Warfare;
- Serve as the primary DOW element to liaise with the Department of State's Global Engagement Center (GEC). other U.S. government departments and agencies, and international allies and partners regarding information and strategic messaging; and
- Perform all activities, tasks, and duties associated with the Principal Information Operations Advisor to the Secretary of War.
